24-Year-old Mawya became the first woman IAF officer from Jammu and Kashmir and the 12th Woman IAF officer of India. She is from Lamberi Village, District Rajouri, Jammu – Kashmir. She made her family and country proud. She is the inspiration for every girl who wants to become an IAF officer.

Early Life

Mawya Sudan is 24 years old. She is from Lamberi Village, District Rajouri, Jammu – Kashmir. Vinod Kumar Sharma is her father who is an engineer in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Sushma Sudan is her mother. Mawya has an elder sister, Tanya, who is an alumna of Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. For primary education, she joined Carmel Convent School and for further education, she joined JK Public School in Kunjwani. She got a scholarship for her higher education. She completed her graduation from MCM DAV College in Chandigarh.

She was interested in helicopters and aeroplanes from her childhood. She used to watch hovering helicopters.

After her graduation, she attempted Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). While waiting for her results, she joined Panjab University for postgraduation in defence studies. After two months of joining a post-graduation course, her result announced and she got qualified.

She became the 12th woman fighter pilot in the IAF. She commissioned into the Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter stream at the Air Force Academy at Dundigal, near Hyderabad, on Saturday, June 19.

Career

She was interested in flying machines from childhood. She wants to flighter plan thus she focuses on this stream and she attempted Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). After two months result came out and she got selected. She became the 12th Woman IAF officer of India and the first woman from Jammu – Kashmir.
