Controversy

On 28 April 2007, she was hosting World Cup final between Shrilanka & Australia. Everything was fine but when Indians noticed her Shari (she wore) people started giving her hate. Actually, she wore a shari in which 16 countries flag was printed but Indian flag was near her foot thus after people noticed they showed hate. After this incident, Bedi apologised.

When her husband died, Mandira was seen paying her last respect and carrying the bier outside her house. Traditionally, a woman is not expected to touch the bier or carry it to the crematorium. But Mandira, who was inconsolable yet strong, broke that stereotype as she carried her husbands bier and tried to bid him goodbye in her own way.
